Africam recently filmed with the Black Mambas anti-poaching unit and the Bush Babies education team.
Who are the Black Mambas?
The Black Mambas Anti-Poaching Unit was founded in 2013 by Transfrontier Africa NPC to protect the most critical ar~JReas within the Greater Kruger. Currently the team is patrolling 20,000 ha of the protected area and are planning to expand their area of operations further.
The Black Mamba teams follow the “Broken Window” philosophy, making the area the most undesirable, most difficult and least profitable place to poach animals. These incredible women are the voice in the community through their conservation work.
The objectives of the Black Mambas is not only the protection of rhinos through boots on the ground and a presence on the frontline, but also through being a role model in their communities. They want their communities to understand that there are far greater benefits to them through rhino conservation rather than poaching.
The Bush Babies Education Program
The Bush Babies Education is an environmental awareness program conducted at primary schools in the communities surrounding Greater Kruger National Park aiming to create an environmentally literate community.
Africam offers kid’s online wildlife education with videos and quizzes to educate and engage passionate young rangers.
